Wilpattu’s Little Royal

One weekend in Wilpattu National Park began with steady rain and we expected a quiet trip with fewer sightings. The jungle proved us wrong. We came across two leopard cubs named Kuweni and Kesara. Their mother Kurutupandi had gone out hunting and left them in her territory.

We watched them play on a tree as they tumbled and gripped like children in a wild playground. Then in one perfect moment Kuweni leapt down leaving Kesara perched alone. He paused nestled between the bark giving a stunning pose.
